In 2014, some of music's greatest stars came together to honor Skynyrd during a major concert event called One More For The Fans! – Celebrating The Songs & Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Artists from all genres, ranging from rock to country, stepped up to cover some of Skynyrd's greatest songs. But one of the best performances of the night was when Charlie took to the stage with Donnie Van Zant, brother to Skynyrd's late lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant and current lead vocalist Johnny Van Zant.
Charlie's connection with Skynyrd goes way back. Following the plane crash of 1977, the group reunited for the first time on the stage at Charlie's Volunteer Jam in 1979. After they officially reunited in 1987, they came back to perform at the Jam once again.
For the One More For The Fans special, Charlie and Donnie covered Skynyrd's fun-loving tune "Down South Jukin'." There's no denying it, these two guys know how to rock, which was made crystal clear in this performance.
Charlie and Donnie took turns singing the lead, but came together to sing the signature line Skynyrd fans know so well "Do some down south jukin, lookin' for some peace of mind." During the performance, Charlie also took the time to show off his guitar skills, something which made the crowd roar with excitement.
If you want to watch one awesome collaboration, then look no further! Turn your speakers up and tune in below to watch Charlie and Donnie sing "Down South Jukin'." Skip to the 3:40 mark to see where their performance starts.
We'd love to see Skynyrd do something like this event again in the future, wouldn't you?
