In this rare, 1982 interview, a young George Strait discusses serving in the military, and his overflowing passion for singing and performing. At 30-years-old, George already had five consecutive number one songs, and he was rising to fame fast.

Fans interviewed in the clip couldn't help but notice his undeniable charm as a country artist newcomer, "Well he sings pretty songs, and he's good lookin' too, that's what it is."

George Strait humbly noted about how he turned his dream into a successful career for himself:

"I was in the service and I just, for some reason, got it in me that I could sing. I thought that I could possibly make a career out of singing, so I went and bought a guitar,” Strait said. “I was in the Army at the time and I was stationed in Hawaii. I went and bought a guitar and I started learning songs. I learned enough where I could get a band together. And, I did that, and the last year I was in the service that’s what I did for the Army. I sang country music.

The clip shows hundreds of fans swooning over George Strait as he takes the stage and sings "Honky Tonk Crazy" live in concert. The rare interview captures a young, bright-eyed George Strait, performing, singing, and talking about his future goals, all the while, following his dreams.
